Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump spoke by phone on Sunday, June 14, discussing the war in Ukraine, U.S.-Iran talks and diplomatic issues ahead of the G7 summit. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said the call also touched on Kiev's attacks on civilian facilities in Russian territory, which both sides said were complicating efforts to end the conflict. According to Ushakov, Trump said he was ready to use his influence with European partners and Kiev to push for peace. The two also discussed plans for a visit to Moscow by a U.S. presidential envoy; CNBC Indonesia named Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. On Iran, Trump told Putin that an agreement between Washington and Tehran was said to be nearly complete and could be announced as soon as June 14.
