Purbaya meets China's finance minister to seek investors ahead of Panda Bonds

The Finance Ministry is targeting a Panda Bonds issuance by late July 2026 and has lined up meetings with 15 investors in China.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa met with China Finance Minister Lan Fo’an in Beijing on Wednesday (17/6) to strengthen Indonesia’s access to development financing. The agenda was also aimed at broadening the investor base and deepening economic ties with strategic partners. During the trip to China, Purbaya is scheduled to meet 15 investors, including five major institutional investors such as Agriculture Bank of China, Zhong Ou Asset Management, and ICBC Wealth Management. According to CNBC Indonesia, the visit is linked to the promotion of Panda Bonds, which are targeted to be issued at the end of July 2026. Purbaya said the government is preparing a long-term financing strategy amid global uncertainty, relying on a controlled debt ratio, an budget deficit within safe limits, and sustained economic growth.
