Purbaya: Foreign inflows hit Rp32.8 trillion as rupiah draws focus

In Q2, foreign inflows reached Rp60.9 trillion, led by Rp99.9 trillion in SRBI, even as stocks saw outflows.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa urged that Indonesia's economy not be judged solely by the rupiah's exchange rate against the US dollar. At an APBN KiTa news conference in Jakarta on Friday (5/6), he said net foreign capital inflows to the domestic financial market through June 3, 2026, reached Rp32.8 trillion. For the second quarter of 2026, inflows were higher at Rp60.9 trillion. Purbaya said Bank Indonesia Rupiah Securities, or SRBI, were the main support, drawing Rp99.9 trillion in inflows, while the stock market still posted Rp56.4 trillion in outflows. He also cited the May Mandiri Spending Index at 123.2 and growth in April car, motorcycle and cement sales as signs that domestic demand remained strong.
