Pupuk Indonesia ships 47,250 tons of urea to Australia
The first shipment arrived in Brisbane, with total exports this year targeted to rise in stages to 250,000 tons.
PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) has completed an export of 47,250 tons of urea to Australia, marking an expansion of the company’s overseas market. The shipment arrived aboard the MV Medi Luna at Brisbane Port, Queensland, and was described as part of Indonesia-Australia fertilizer cooperation under a government-to-government scheme. The cargo departed in mid-May 2026 from the BSL dock of PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur in Bontang, East Kalimantan. Pupuk Indonesia is targeting staged urea exports to Australia throughout 2026 to reach 250,000 tons. The company said its fertilizer production capacity reaches 14.8 million tons per year, with urea output targeted at 7.8 million tons in 2026, allowing domestic supply and exports to be maintained at the same time.
