Pulisic's calf injury clouds US lineup for World Cup match vs Australia
What's next: Mauricio Pochettino planned a late medical review, with the US saying Pulisic could still return for the following group game.
Christian Pulisic remained a doubt for the United States' World Cup group-stage match against Australia after training separately again on Thursday in Seattle. Coach Mauricio Pochettino said the team would meet with medical staff later in the day before deciding whether the Milan midfielder can play on Friday at Lumen Field. Pulisic injured his calf in training last week and aggravated it during the Americans' 4-1 opening win over Paraguay, when he left at halftime after contributing an assist. He has since followed a modified training program in Irvine, California, and in Seattle, where he was seen with a wrap on his left calf. If he cannot go, the US could turn to players including Gio Reyna or Brenden Aaronson as it chases a second straight group win.
