Puan urges police to investigate merchant’s death in Pejompongan unrest

Bambang Setiyawan, 59, died after being evacuated to RSAL Mintohardjo, and his family declined an autopsy.

DPR Speaker Puan Maharani urged police to complete their investigation into the death of Bambang Setiyawan, 59, a mirror seller who died during unrest in the Pejompongan area of Central Jakarta after a protest outside the DPR/MPR Building on Thursday night, August 27. Metro Jaya Police said the victim was found unconscious while the situation was still unsafe, then evacuated by the Biddokkes team to Dr. Mintohardjo Navy Hospital. Bambang later died after receiving medical treatment. Police have not confirmed the cause of death because the family refused an autopsy. Amid allegations that GRIB Jaya was involved in the unrest, Puan left the evidence to law enforcement and called for all facts and those involved to be fully revealed.
