PTK adds student education to Tangkoko Beach cleanup
The third-year program aims to shape behavior from elementary school onward, not just move trash for a day.
PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental added environmental education for elementary school students in its Coastal Clean Up program at Pantai Tangkoko, Bitung, Sulawesi Utara. Unlike the previous three years, which focused on beach cleanup alone, this year's event combined lessons on coastal ecosystems, waste management, and the impact of plastic on marine life, then ended with a beach cleanup. PTK worked with Sea Soldier, the Bitung city government, and KSOP Kelas I Bitung. According to acting president director Eko Cahyadi, Pantai Tangkoko was chosen for its ecological value, its location near the Integrated Terminal Bitung, and its potential to be developed as a tourism destination if coastal cleanliness is maintained. PTK also handed over maritime education books, stationery, and waste sorting equipment to the participating schools.
