PT Faunaland Ancol named new operator of Bandung Zoo
The selected operator must pay an initial Rp4,3 billion contribution and prepare to reopen the zoo after about six months closed.
The Bandung city government has appointed PT Faunaland Ancol as the new operator of Bandung Zoo after an open tender process. The decision was made jointly with the Ministry of Forestry because permits for conservation and the management of protected animals fall under the ministry's authority. Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the transition period will begin soon to prepare a revitalization of the site, strengthen conservation functions, improve animal welfare and reopen Bandung Zoo to visitors. The selected operator must pay a fixed contribution of Rp4,3 billion when the cooperation agreement is signed, then cover animal feed and all operating costs. The city government will continue paying employee salaries through 25 June as part of the transition.
