PT DKI raises Kerry Riza restitution to Rp13.4 trillion

If the ruling becomes final and payment is not made within a month, prosecutors may seize and auction assets; the substitute term is 10 years.

The DKI Jakarta High Court increased the additional penalty for Muhamad Kerry Adrianto Riza in a corruption case involving crude oil governance. In its appeal ruling on Wednesday (10/6), Kerry's prison sentence remained 15 years, but the restitution order rose from about Rp2.9 trillion to Rp13.406.493.622.901. That amount consists of Rp2.906.493.622.901 in state losses and Rp10,5 trillion in state economic losses. The fine was cut from Rp1 billion to Rp500 million, with a substitute term of 140 days. Judge Budi Susilo said that if the ruling has permanent legal force and the restitution is not paid within one month, prosecutors may seize and then auction the convict's assets. If the assets are not enough, Kerry must serve a substitute prison term of 10 years.
