Surabaya Scouts set 3 MURI records with 130,000 participants
The city government is preparing a campsite in Lakarsantri, while Kwarcab hopes the event will renew young people's interest in Scouts.
Surabaya City Scouts broke three Museum Rekor-Dunia Indonesia (MURI) records at once on Saturday (20/6/2026) through an event centered at Gelora Bung Tomo and held simultaneously at various points across the city. The three records were footwashing of parents with 130,000 participants, the induction of Pramuka Garuda with 65,000 participants, and a semaphore demonstration with 41,337 participants. Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi said that after the event, the Surabaya municipal government will work with Scouts to activate Kampung Pancasila. The city government is also preparing a campsite in Jeruk, Kecamatan Lakarsantri. Siti Mariyam, head of Kwarcab Pramuka Kota Surabaya, said the event was designed to revive the enthusiasm and interest of students who have long viewed Scouts activities as monotonous.
