Pramono weighs opening 76 Jakarta parks around the clock

The provincial government will assess each park’s requirements and add CCTV and lighting before extending operating hours.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is still considering a proposal to open 76 parks in the capital 24 hours a day. He has asked for the plan to be refined before making a decision. The proposal came from mapping the region’s potential during the Benyamin S Award 2026. If the parks are judged to meet the requirements, the Jakarta provincial government plans to add CCTV and lighting so the public spaces remain safe and comfortable when they operate overnight. Pramono has not detailed which parks are on the list. At present, several parks already open 24 hours, including Taman Menteng, Taman Lapangan Banteng, Taman Literasi Martha Tiahahu and Taman Bendera Pusaka. Tona Hutauruk, head of the Regional Cooperation Bureau at the Jakarta provincial secretariat, said the identification also found 94 points for Jakarta's signature culinary destinations.
