Pramono orders Dishub, Polda to rein in pak ogah on main roads
The crackdown will be paired with plans to add more ojol shelters at additional points to better organize traffic and pickup areas.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has asked the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency and Polda Metro Jaya to rein in unofficial traffic controllers, or “pak ogah,” on the capital’s main roads. He issued the order in Central Jakarta on Tuesday during the inauguration of an online motorcycle taxi pickup and drop-off shelter in the Thamrin-Bundaran HI area. Pramono said the move is needed to make Jakarta more orderly and traffic safer, more secure and more comfortable for residents. In addition to the crackdown, he also called for more ojol shelters, not only around Bundaran HI but also at other points, including terminals and eventually railway station areas. The shelters will be built with building managers, shopping centers and online transport companies, and are targeted to be available free of charge 24 hours a day.
