Prabowo, Wong hold Leaders’ Retreat in Jakarta, sign 26 deals

President Prabowo Subianto met Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during the annual Leaders’ Retreat in Jakarta on Monday, July 6, 2026. The meeting, the two leaders’ second since Prabowo took office, produced 26 agreements, according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. One key focus was a commitment to keep the Malacca Strait safe and open to international shipping in line with UNCLOS 1982, with coordination involving Malaysia and Thailand. The two countries also discussed student exchanges between Sekolah Garuda, SMA Taruna Nusantara Magelang and universities in Singapore. Energy cooperation was also broadened, including cross-border electricity trade. Over the past week, the two sides had already signed agreements in environmental protection, radiation protection, emergency preparedness and regulatory policy.
