Prabowo urges accelerated Gambir Station renovation, 2-year target

President Prabowo Subianto called for renovation work at Gambir Station to begin immediately after a limited meeting with Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi and PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (11/6). Bobby said the Gambir upgrade is targeted for completion within two years. After the renovation, Gambir is being prepared as a national station integrated with KRL services, while Manggarai Station will also serve as an intercity rail hub. In the same meeting, KAI reported an acceleration in the management of level crossings following a deadly accident in Bekasi. So far, 172 crossings have been closed, 490 others are still in the process of closure, and 1,148 points have started the process of installing barriers. The largest number of locations is in Jabodetabek.
