Prabowo targets low-cost generic drugs within a year

The government also aims to renovate 300-400 regional hospitals in three years and has sent nearly 1,000 medical devices to 514 regions.

President Prabowo Subianto is targeting low-cost generic drugs to become available to the public within one year. He set the goal on Wednesday while inaugurating RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir in Krui, Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung, as part of efforts to lower medicine prices in the country. At the same time, the government is carrying out a modernization of national health services. Prabowo said nearly 1,000 modern medical equipment units have already been distributed to regional hospitals in 514 regencies and cities. The government is also targeting the construction and renovation of 300 to 400 district general hospitals over the next three years. In a statement cited by Tempo, the service-improvement program also covers 10 thousand puskesmas in various regions.
