Indonesia also opened up tech-sector jobs in Germany and asked Berlin to help speed finalization of the IEU-CEPA.

President Prabowo Subianto and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier agreed to strengthen the Indonesia-Germany partnership in trade, investment, energy, education, and labor when they met at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta on Monday, June 15, 2026. Prabowo asked Germany to play an active role in speeding up finalization of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or IEU-CEPA. Indonesia also invited German investment in the energy transition, downstream industry, electric vehicles, semiconductors, critical mineral supply chains, rare earths, and infrastructure.
