Prabowo sought him at meeting, Dedi leads Ciremai fire response
Officials say the blaze in Gunung Ciremai National Park has been contained, with 1,000 personnel and 3 helicopters ready for full suppression.
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi explained his absence when President Prabowo Subianto looked for him at the National Coordination Meeting of the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team at JIExpo Jakarta on Thursday (22/10). Dedi said he was on the ground leading efforts to handle the forest and land fire in Gunung Ciremai National Park, Kuningan Regency. According to Dedi, staying in the field was a priority recommended by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and he had also reported to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. He added that the fire in Ciremai had been successfully isolated to prevent it from spreading. To speed up suppression in the steep terrain, the West Java provincial government has prepared three water-bombing helicopters and deployed 1,000 combined personnel from TNI, Polri and volunteers.
