Prabowo flags public service corruption after 2 cabinet cases
The two cases this week involved former BGN leaders and a deputy minister, and ended in their removal from office.
President Prabowo Subianto has again highlighted corruption in public services after two cases ensnared cabinet officials. Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said Prabowo had from the start told the government not to play around with public service, while State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the anti-corruption message had been repeated to the Kabinet Merah Putih. The focus came after Kejaksaan Agung named former National Nutrition Agency chief Dadan Hindayana, Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung suspects in a case over the governance of the Makan Bergizi Gratis program. In another case, KPK named Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim and seven others suspects in alleged extortion and gratuities tied to permits for foreign nationals to stay in Indonesia. Dadan and his two deputies were removed on 2 June, while Silmy was dismissed after being named a suspect on 4 June.
