Prabowo says fair pay can curb extortion, graft

At the Harkopnas speech in Jakarta, the president also urged corruptors to return the people's wealth.

President Prabowo Subianto said members of the TNI and Polri need to receive fair pay so they do not extort the public. In his keynote address at the peak of National Cooperative Day in the Senayan area of Jakarta on Sunday, July 12, 2026, he extended the point to other professions, including teachers, doctors, nurses and civil servants. According to Prabowo, decent income is needed so security personnel and state employees are not pushed into wrongdoing. On the same occasion, he also warned corruptors to stop stealing public money and return the people's wealth. Prabowo said society needs justice and prosperity, while noting that the public is not foolish even if it is quick to forgive.
