Prabowo receives Qatar foreign minister, US$4 billion investment discussed
The two sides are also preparing an Emir of Qatar visit in late 2026 to mark 50 years of diplomatic ties.
President Prabowo Subianto received Qatar Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Monday (15/6). The meeting focused on strengthening Indonesia-Qatar ties, especially investment and preparations for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said Qatar has renewed its commitment to invest US$4 billion in Indonesia and opened the door to expanding investment in strategic sectors. During the meeting, Al-Muraikhi also conveyed greetings from Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The two sides also discussed plans for a visit by the Emir of Qatar to Indonesia in late 2026, which is expected to mark the half-century anniversary of Indonesia-Qatar diplomatic relations.
