Prabowo proposes ad hoc court to probe BUMN leaders

President Prabowo Subianto proposed a special ad hoc court to investigate alleged abuses in the management of BUMN, including by directors over the past 30 years. He delivered the proposal at the Annual MPR Session and the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday, after the government recorded 1.074 BUMN and their subsidiaries, grandchild companies and great-grandchild companies. Prabowo said some BUMN were not being run with adequate accountability and some kept posting losses. He also opened the door to a form of amnesty for managers who admitted wrongdoing, leaving the decision to the DPR. Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas later said there had been no further discussion in the government on forming the court and described the president's remarks as a strong warning against corruption.
