Prabowo cancels trip to Russia-ASEAN summit in Kazan
Istana said Prabowo chose to focus on domestic affairs after earlier meetings with ASEAN leaders and Vladimir Putin.
President Prabowo Subianto has canceled his attendance at the Russia-ASEAN summit in Kazan, Russia, which is scheduled for 17-19 June 2026. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said Prabowo decided to concentrate on several domestic matters. He also said the high-level meeting agenda with Southeast Asian leaders had already been covered by Prabowo at the ASEAN summit in Cebu, Philippines, on 7-8 May. In addition, Prabowo met Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to Moscow in April, and some cooperation commitments have already been followed up technically. At the same time, Kazan has tightened security for summit delegations, with 189 travel routes prepared through 20 June.
