The Forestry Ministry is preparing as many as 3,000 more forest police officers, lifting the total force target to 21,000.

The government is targeting an ускорated restoration of 12 million hectares of degraded land in Indonesia, with backing from President Prabowo Subianto and stronger Forest Police staffing. Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said the area that needs rehabilitation includes 6.7 million hectares in forest areas and 1.27 million hectares in conservation areas. The commitment was highlighted during the 2026 National Nature Conservation Day commemoration at Taman Wisata Alam Angke, Jakarta, on Monday. According to Raja Juli, concrete support also includes adding Polhut personnel to a total of 21,000, or at least opening 3,000 new posts in the near term. He acknowledged that the state budget is limited for restoring ecosystems on a large scale, so the Kementerian Kehutanan is opening the door to cooperation with various parties to speed up recovery.
