Prabowo warns those who paid demonstrators in Gorontalo
New: The president alleged some protesters were paid Rp200 ribu, but did not identify the demonstration or the parties involved.
President Prabowo Subianto issued a warning to those he said financed demonstrations, speaking at the Peak of the 2026 XVII National Farmers and Fishermen Week in Gorontalo Regency on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. Prabowo said he knew who was “paying for protests” and warned them, but did not explain which protest he meant or who stood behind the funding. In the same speech, he alleged that some participants in the rally did not understand the issue being raised and took part only because they were paid Rp200 ribu. Prabowo then compared Indonesia to a soccer team in the middle of a match and called on the public to keep supporting the government, while saying criticism should come after the “game” is over.
