Polri revives Anti-Football Mafia Task Force for 2026 World Cup

Polri will reactivate the Anti-Football Mafia Task Force to prevent and crack down on gambling during the 2026 World Cup. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the move is intended to keep the tournament from being exploited by certain groups to commit violations of the law. He urged the public to enjoy the matches in the spirit of sportsmanship and not taint the World Cup with gambling. At the same event at Mabes Polri on Wednesday (10/6), Sigit also said the police are ready to help organize public viewing events from headquarters down to the Polsek level, including permits and security. Polri hopes the activities will serve as public entertainment while also boosting UMKM in the regions.
