Polri repatriates Encek, drug fugitive who fled in 2024
Encek was arrested in Tachileik on July 17 after allegedly continuing to run a cross-border meth network while on the run.
Polri repatriated Bayu Wicaksono, alias Encek, a narcotics convict who escaped from Lapas Kelas IIB Sukadana, Lampung Timur, on April 21, 2024. Encek arrived at the Bareskrim Polri building in Jakarta on Sunday (30/8), after being arrested in Tachileik, a border area near Myanmar, Thailand and Laos, on July 17, 2026. Bareskrim Polri Deputy Director for Narcotics Crimes Albert Raden Deddy Sulistyo Nugroho said Encek had fled to Malaysia and then moved to Thailand before he was detained. According to Polri, while a fugitive Encek continued to control a transnational methamphetamine trafficking network, including shipments of sabu from Malaysia to Indonesia. Encek was previously sentenced to 14 years in prison and is now being taken to Bareskrim for further questioning.
