Polri, Immigration launch I-GHAS 24/7 to track fugitives

The system is linked to Interpol networks in 196 countries, with AI and biometric data integration planned for 2027.

Polri and the Directorate General of Immigration launched the Interpol Global Hit Alert System, or I-GHAS 24/7, to tighten monitoring of international fugitives and cross-border criminals at Indonesia's entry points. The system, introduced at Polri headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday (5/11), connects immigration officers with Polri's International Relations Division through the Interpol network. Under the arrangement, data matches involving people suspected of being on fugitive lists can be verified immediately and response efforts coordinated. National Police Chief Suyudi Ario Seto said the upgrade is important in confronting threats such as human trafficking and narcotics smuggling. Immigration Director General Hendarsam Marantoko said digital communication integration is needed, especially in transit areas. The platform is scheduled for further development with AI and biometric data integration in 2027.
