Polri: Bhabinkamtibmas not authorized to inspect or collect taxes
The clarification follows SE-8/PJ/2026, which drew scrutiny over involving Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas in monitoring taxpayers.
Polri said Bhabinkamtibmas are not authorized to assess tax compliance, inspect, collect, or request tax payments from the public. Polri Public Relations Chief Johnny Eddizon Isir said tax authority remains entirely with the Direktorat Jenderal Pajak. He said Bhabinkamtibmas involvement in coordination with DJP is limited to police duties, namely community guidance, building partnerships, and information networks in the area. The clarification came after Direktorat Jenderal Pajak Circular Letter Number SE-8/PJ/2026 circulated, setting guidelines for monitoring taxpayer compliance and drawing attention to the involvement of territorial elements, including Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas.
