Polri bans personnel from using e-cigarettes from Oct. 30
The ban covers personnel from Mabes Polri to Polsek, with sanctions for violators, amid concerns e-cigarettes can mask liquid narcotics.
Polri has banned all personnel from using e-cigarettes, both at work and outside duty hours, under Circular Letter of the Kapolri No. SE/9/X/2026, effective Oct. 30, 2026. The rule covers Civil Servants within Polri at Mabes Polri, Polda, Polres and Polsek, with sanctions for violators. Polri spokesman Johnny Eddizon Isir said the policy was adopted because e-cigarettes are seen as a possible means to abuse and distribute liquid narcotics that are difficult to distinguish from ordinary contents. Polri also pointed to the discovery of etomidate, which has been included in Narcotics Class II under Health Ministry Regulation No. 15 of 2025.
