Police arrest 2 suspects in South Korean man’s Bekasi killing

Police say the victim’s ex-wife allegedly hired the attacker for Rp139 million; the victim suffered 23 stab wounds.

Metro Bekasi Police have arrested two suspects in the killing of Byong Chan Sang, 66, a South Korean national found dead at his home in Tambun Selatan, Bekasi Regency. Police identified SJ, the victim’s former wife, as the alleged planner and HW as the attacker. Investigators said SJ paid HW a total of Rp139 juta in installments to kill the victim. CCTV footage showed HW monitoring the house before entering as the victim’s child left. Police said the killing took place on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, and the victim suffered 23 stab wounds. After the attack, HW allegedly threw the knife into a river; officers are still searching for the weapon. The preliminary motive is tied to domestic disputes, including asset division and child support.
