Police name 3 new suspects in KM Virgo 8 sinking case
The suspects are company employees, while the DVI team has identified 72 bodies out of 82 remains received.
Police have named three new suspects in the fatal KM Virgo 8 accident, which overturned and sank in the Masalembo waters of the Java Sea. Police Public Relations Division spokesman Brigjen Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said the three are employees of PT Virgo Karya Shipping: LBA as agent, RH as operations manager, and YR as branch general manager in Surabaya. Police charged them under Article 302 paragraph (3) of the Shipping Law, Article 474 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code, and provisions on participation and assistance in Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code. Separately, the South Kalimantan Police DVI Team announced that three more victims had been identified, bringing the total to 72 identified bodies out of 82 remains received by RS Bhayangkara Banjarmasin.
