Poland lands $253 million Patriot missile maintenance hub for Europe
Why it matters: The Pentagon said the site will be the only PAC-3 repair center outside the US, cutting turnaround times for NATO allies.
Poland will host a European maintenance center for Lockheed Martin’s Patriot Advanced Capability-3 interceptor missiles, a move aimed at speeding repairs and reinforcing NATO’s air-defense supply chain. Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said the investment is worth about 1 billion zlotys, or $253 million, and the facility should be operational in roughly a dozen months. The Pentagon said the site will support regional maintenance, repair and overhaul for PAC-3 missiles and improve readiness across allied air and missile defense forces. Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden will lead critical supply-chain integration. Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said Poland beat Germany, the Netherlands and Norway to win the project.
