Poland charges Ukrainian teen with 47 sabotage acts for Russia

The suspect faces life in prison after being accused of stoking Polish-Ukrainian ethnic tensions and preparing a drone attack.

Polish prosecutors have charged an 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen, identified as Illia K, with 47 criminal acts said to have been carried out for Russian intelligence. According to Poland's Internal Security Agency, ABW, the actions between November 2024 and August 2025 were intended to inflame ethnic tensions between Poland and Ukraine. The suspect is accused of defacing the Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto and the monuments to victims of the Volhynia massacre in Domostawa and Wrocław with writing and symbols glorifying the UPA. Prosecutors also accuse him of preparing a drone flight over President Karol Nawrocki's vehicle during the Polish Armed Forces Day parade in Warsaw on 15 August last year. ABW said Illia K recruited others and paid them using cryptocurrency accounts registered in Russia and China. He was arrested three days before the parade and faces life in prison if convicted.
