DPR leaders sign pledge to quit if asset seizure bill slips
The three deputy speakers set a Dec. 15, 2026 deadline after meeting protesters at the parliamentary complex.
Three DPR leaders signed a written pledge to resign from their leadership posts and parliamentary seats if the RUU Perampasan Aset is not completed by Dec. 15, 2026. They are Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal, and Saan Mustopa. The signing took place after an audience with supporters of Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu at the Complex Parliament in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (27/8), while a DPR plenary session was also underway. The same day, the plenary agenda included a report from Komisi III on the progress of the RUU Perampasan Aset. Outside parliament, Koalisi Masyarakat Sipil urged the DPR and the government to release the draft and DIM to the public, and criticized the alleged removal of the illicit enrichment provision from the DPR version of the draft.
