Pickup truck crashes into vehicle on Cipularang Toll Road, 2 dead
Police suspect the driver dozed off at KM 85B in Purwakarta as investigators still seek the identity of the struck vehicle.
Two people died after a pickup truck traveling on the Cipularang Toll Road at KM 85B from Bandung toward Jakarta hit a vehicle in front of it early Friday. The victims were the driver, IM, and the passenger, NM, both residents of Sumedang Regency. Kompol Joko Prihantono, head of the Cipularang PJR subunit, said the crash occurred at about 04.35 WIB in lane 1 in Purwakarta, West Java. Police suspect the driver was sleepy and failed to fully anticipate traffic conditions. After the impact, the pickup truck with license plate D 8531 PC stopped in lane 1 facing west. Both victims were taken to Abdul Radjak Purwakarta Hospital. PJR officers, a tow team and rescue vehicles handled the scene, while the Purwakarta Police traffic accident unit investigates the chronology and the identity of the other vehicle involved.
