PGN supplies 50,000 m3 of gas a month to Semarang bike plant
PT Roda Pasifik Mandiri will use piped gas for core production, aiming to cut costs and lower operating emissions.
PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) has begun supplying natural gas to the new PT Roda Pasifik Mandiri plant in Semarang, Central Java, at volumes of up to 50,000 cubic meters per month. The gas, delivered through the distribution pipeline network, is used for core production at the factory, which makes bicycles, electric bicycles and electric motorcycles. According to PGN Semarang Area Head Sugianto Eko Cahyono, the use of natural gas is expected to provide a more reliable energy supply, reduce production costs and cut carbon emissions. PGN also said the partnership strengthens industrial supply chains and encourages energy diversification in Central Java. The company said it will continue expanding gas pipeline coverage in potential industrial areas in the province to support the energy transition and net zero emission targets.
