Pew survey: Global trust in Trump falls as U.S. image turns negative

Only 23 percent in 36 countries trust Trump on world affairs, and Indonesia is among nations with sharp drops in opinion.

A new Pew Research Center survey shows global trust in U.S. President Donald Trump remains low, alongside a worsening image of the U.S. in many countries, including Indonesia. The results, released Tuesday (23/6), found only 23 percent of respondents in 36 countries trusted Trump’s leadership in handling world affairs, while about two-thirds said they trusted him little or not at all. Views of the U.S. were also largely negative: 37 percent gave positive ratings and 57 percent negative ratings. Indonesia was among 15 countries with sharp declines in views, along with Italia, Nigeria, Afrika Selatan, and Korea Selatan. The survey of 42.151 adult respondents was conducted from February to May 2026.
