Peru district elects Hitler Mussolini mayor by 25 votes
What's next: Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores is due to take office Jan. 1 after winning 229 votes in Queropalca.
Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores won the race for mayor of Queropalca, a small Andean district in Peru's Huanuco region, by 25 votes, according to election data cited by local media. The 45-year-old businessman from the center-left Ahora Nacion party took 229 votes, ahead of rival Gaspar Osorio's 204, after a little over 700 residents cast ballots. Flores, who works in freight transportation, was born in the district, about 360 kilometers from Lima. The result drew international attention because his first names match those of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, though Peru has previously elected politicians with the name Hitler, including a lawmaker in 2021 and a district mayor in 2018.
