Pertamina holds waste education for 20 Medan coast students
The compost-house and recycling lessons are meant to spread through class representatives to 497 other students at SDN 068426.
PT Pertamina Patra Niaga held environmental education at SD Negeri 068426 in Kelurahan Nelayan Indah, Kecamatan Medan Labuhan, Kota Medan, through the Sekolah Kawasan Pesisir (Sekar) program. The activity involved 20 students from grades IV, V and VI learning hands-on waste management, sorting organic and inorganic waste, using a compost house, recycling, planting vegetation and carrying out a neighborhood clean-up. The program, running since 2025, aims to improve literacy and awareness of coastal conservation. Pertamina said the knowledge gained by the participants is expected to be passed on to the wider school community of 497 students, supported by 26 teachers. The program also involved the Pengawas Sekolah Kecamatan Medan Labuhan, Kelurahan Nelayan Indah and Kecamatan Medan Labuhan.
