Pertamina Gamsunoro clears Strait of Hormuz after March delay
The ship traveled 16 hours from the Arabian Gulf as VLCC Pertamina Pride still awaits a security assessment before moving.
The Gamsunoro vessel owned by PT Pertamina International Shipping successfully crossed the critical Strait of Hormuz point on Wednesday (24/6) at 20.00 WIB after being held since early March 2026 due to the United States-Iran conflict. PIS said the ship departed the Arabian Gulf at 01.06 Dubai time, sailed at 7.5 knots, then reached the mouth of the strait around 13.00 local time before being declared safe four hours later. Pjs Corporate Secretary PIS Vega Pita said the crossing decision was made after a strict one-month risk assessment and intensive coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran. During the voyage, the crew and the PIS crisis center monitored the ship 24 hours. Another vessel in the fleet, VLCC Pertamina Pride, is still preparing to move while assessing security conditions and traffic in the area.
