Pertamina, Boeing sign MoU to develop SAF for Indonesia aviation
The partnership covers feedstocks, technology, certification and policy support to speed up Indonesia's SAF ecosystem.
PT Pertamina (Persero) and Boeing signed a memorandum of understanding to explore development of a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) ecosystem in Indonesia. The agreement, announced at Indonesia Aero Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/7), is aimed at supporting decarbonization in the aviation sector while strengthening supply of alternative fuel for the national aviation industry. The collaboration covers identification of potential feedstocks, technology development, certification and the policy support needed to accelerate SAF implementation. Pertamina described the partnership as a long-term investment in building a national SAF industry. Boeing said Indonesia is strategically positioned to lead sustainable aviation development in Southeast Asia, amid projections that air passenger traffic in the region will grow 7 percent annually.
