Pertamax rises to Rp16.250, Pertalite lines lengthen in Jakarta

Drivers are shifting to subsidized fuel, raising fears of longer queues and tighter Pertalite supplies at stations.

The price increase for Pertamax has triggered a shift in fuel purchases in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/6/2026), with longer queues for Pertalite at several gas stations. ANTARA and Republika reported the condition was visible, among others, in Radio Dalam, Kebayoran Baru, as well as on Jalan JORR and in Duri Kosambi, Cengkareng. PT Pertamina (Persero) raised the price of Pertamax starting 10 June 2026 from Rp12.300 to Rp16.250 per liter, while Pertamax Green 95 rose from Rp12.900 to Rp17.000 per liter. At some gas stations, the Pertalite line was crowded, especially with online motorcycle taxi drivers, couriers, students and residents trying to reduce daily expenses. Some motorists said they were considering switching from Pertamax to Pertalite if the new price holds, while others worried the shift could lengthen queues and pressure Pertalite availability.
