Persija appoints Shin Tae-yong as coach on 3-year deal
The former Indonesia national team coach will take charge of Macan Kemayoran in the 2026/2027 Super League season.
Persija Jakarta appointed Shin Tae-yong as its new head coach for the 2026/2027 Super League, on a three-year contract. The former Indonesia national team coach was introduced at Jakarta International Stadium in North Jakarta on Monday, replacing Mauricio Souza on the Macan Kemayoran bench. Persija director Mohamad Prapanca said the search for a new coach began when the competition entered its final 10 weeks. At the time, Persija was still in the title race but went three matches without a win: a 2-2 draw with Borneo FC, a 1-1 draw against Dewa United, and a 2-3 loss to Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC. Persija hopes Shin's appointment will mark a turning point for the team next season.
