Persija beat PSMS 4-1, semifinal hopes remain alive

It was Persija's first official win under Shin Tae-yong after the match was tied 1-1 until the 80th minute.

Persija Jakarta kept its hopes of reaching the 2026 President's Cup semifinals alive after beating PSMS Medan 4-1 in a Group B match at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, on Saturday. Persija took the lead through Arlyansyah in the 23rd minute, but PSMS levelled the score with an individual effort from Ikhsan Chan in the 60th minute. The deadlock was broken in the final 10 minutes when Victor Dethan scored in the 80th minute, followed by Agi Firmansyah in the 84th minute and Gustavo Almeida in the 88th minute. The victory was Persija's first in an official match under coach Shin Tae-yong. After the match, Shin praised his players' fighting spirit, especially the younger players, for continuing to press until the end despite stiff resistance from PSMS.
