Pentagon revokes Frank Kendall’s clearance over Air Force One leak

What’s new: The move also bars the former Air Force secretary from holding any sensitive position, with no public word on criminal referral.

The Pentagon revoked former Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall’s eligibility to access classified information Friday, accusing him of an unauthorized disclosure about Air Force One’s capabilities. The action took effect immediately and also blocks Kendall from holding any sensitive position. The allegation follows reporting last month on security concerns surrounding a Qatari-gifted Air Force One that underwent a $400 million retrofit. The New York Times reported the aircraft lacked some advanced antimissile and other security features found on older presidential planes. In that report, Kendall said there had not been enough time for all standard Air Force One modifications and that he was surprised the jet was used outside the United States.
