Police said 16 people were wounded, including five foreign nationals, as the Polish suspect was detained after being shot by officers.
A mass shooting at Krakow Market Square in Poland killed six people on Saturday afternoon local time, while three other bodies were found at the suspect’s home. Police said the suspect, a 24-year-old Polish man, fired randomly from inside a car in the city center before being subdued and arrested. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski said all evidence points to the influence of right-wing ideology and that element will be part of the investigation. A total of 16 people were wounded, including two police officers and five foreign nationals; one of the dead identified so far was a British citizen, while Portugal’s Foreign Ministry said a Portuguese woman was among those injured. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the three bodies at the suspect’s home were believed to be close relatives.
