Government proposes 2027 Hajj cost at Rp107.34 million each
Pilgrim contributions would drop to 40 percent, while proposed airfare rises to Rp40.53 million under the 2027 plan.
The government proposed an average 2027 Hajj operating cost of Rp107,340,172.02 per pilgrim in a working meeting with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday. The figure is up from the 2026 BPIH of Rp87,409,365. Under the 2027 proposal, the pilgrim payment, or Bipih, is set at Rp42,936,068.81, or 40 percent, while Rp64,404,103.21, or 60 percent, would come from the benefit value managed by BPKH. Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochammad Irfan Yusuf said the adjustment was designed to improve services while maintaining efficiency. The government used exchange-rate assumptions of Rp17,500 per U.S. dollar and Rp4,666.67 per Saudi riyal. Pilgrims' living costs remain 750 Saudi riyals, but airfare is proposed to rise from Rp32,012,885 to Rp40,529,919 because of jet fuel prices, rupiah weakness and geopolitical pressure in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia has also eliminated the D service package in the masyair area, prompting Indonesia to switch to package C.
