Government extends food aid 3 months for 33.2 million families
Distribution will start in July 2026 during the lean season, and Bulog is also being prepared for a Rp2,000 per kg soybean subsidy.
The government will extend the Food Assistance program for three months starting in July 2026 for 33.2 million beneficiary families. The decision was taken at a limited coordination meeting on food commodity price developments in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, led by Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan. The government said the aid needs to continue to protect purchasing power and restrain price swings in staple foods ahead of the planting season and the lean season. Perum Bulog has been assigned to distribute the aid. Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said the Government Rice Reserve stock and distribution network are considered sufficient to carry out the program. At the same meeting, the government also discussed a Rp2,000 per kilogram soybean subsidy with an initial allocation of 250,000 tons.
