Government uses name-and-address data to target at-risk families

The at-risk family database has been built down to village and urban ward level and will be used across ministries and local governments.

The government is stepping up efforts to speed stunting reduction with a precision data approach based on names and addresses so interventions can better hit the target. Budi Setiyono, Secretary of the Ministry of Population and Family Development and also BKKBN chief secretary, said the method helps identify individuals, families and areas that should be prioritized. He said the data system must be strengthened continuously through better collection, validation, regular updates and integration across ministries and agencies. Budi said Kemendukbangga/BKKBN has built a database of families at risk of stunting down to the village and urban ward level. He added that faster stunting reduction cannot rely on the health sector alone, but is also tied to sanitation, drinking water, food security, education, social protection and family empowerment.
