Government sends 5 TNI AU aircraft to Kalimantan for fires

A total of 52 aircraft are now deployed across six fire-prone provinces, with 30 operating in Kalimantan.

The government has sent five TNI AU aircraft from Lanud Abdulrachman Saleh in Malang to West Kalimantan and East Kalimantan to strengthen operations to handle forest and land fires. The added aircraft support 30 BNPB planes already operating in three affected provinces in Kalimantan. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the TNI AU also has aircraft on standby at Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, so they can be flown as needed in the field. Based on BNPB reports, a total of 52 aircraft are now deployed in six karhutla-prone provinces: 30 in Kalimantan and 22 in Sumatra. Air operations include patrols, weather modification and water bombing to curb the spread of fire and haze during the 2026 dry season.
